Brist, near Makarska, is one of the oldest towns in Croatia, and was historically mentioned in the year 1571. Unlike the other more active tourist towns in Croatia, Brist is one of the places that you would visit if you would prefer the more calm and peaceful surrounding that only a secluded Croatian town would be able to give. Tourists are encouraged to enjoy the sea, the warm weather as much as they can.

There are many things to do besides enjoy the warm and azure waters in Brist; one can visit the old churches and enjoy the architecture of the historic places. Or one can visit nearby museums where one can see relics of the past; not only during the sixteenth century or earlier, but even older relics, because this town had been established as the few places in Croatia that had been prehistorically active. This means that people were living in this place already while other places were still quiet and uninhabited.
