Along the northwestern end of Croatia in the peninsula of Istria is the village named as Funtana. It is located between two larger towns Porec and Vrsar, and has about 1,000 residents. The people living in Funtana depend highly on maritime industries like fishing, but in the latter part of the 20th century, tourism greatly improved, as more tourists were drawn to the natural charm of the place. In Funtana, guests would have no trouble finding accommodations and food to eat, as the village is dotted with many establishments catering to their needs.
Funtana is well-known for the lush beauty of its landscape as well as its coastline. Because the Mediterranean climate provides ideal warm temperatures in the summer months, one can expect to find many tourists flocking to the cool beaches of Funtana. Popular water sports that keep travelers busy in Funtana include water skiing, yachting, and diving.
Besides natural attractions, Funtana also has treats for guests who are into the arts and history. There are sculptures on exhibit in Montraker and Valkanela, as well as the beautiful churches from the 17th century, such as St. Lucia’s Church, St. Barnard’s Parish, and the Church of Blessed Mary of Mercy.
